So you just finished creating your company website. The design was minimalistic and modern and it was filled with content that any potential client needs to know. The next thing you might have to consider is how to improve your site’s traffic and hopefully rank higher in the search engine results page than your competitors. To achieve this, you have to look into Search Engine Optimization to let users know that your site exists.
“SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, which is the practice of increasing the quantity and quality of traffic to your website through organic search engine results.“ – moz.com
In this article, we’ll look at the 5 best WordPress SEO plugins in 2021.

Yoast SEO continues to dominate the SEO plugin battle with over 135 million downloads as of 2020 with 4.9 out of 5 stars in reviews. One of the main reasons why many people use it is due to its simplicity and ease of use.
Pricing: Free, $89 (Premium version)
Installations: 5+ million active installations
The $89 premium version of the plugin offers more tools and functionalities. Additional perks from the premium consists of full access to all Yoast SEO academy courses, ad-free interface, 1-year free access to 24/7 support, keyword optimization, and much more.

Starting its development way back in 2007, AIOSEO has always been at the top of the most used plugins on WordPress for SEO. The development team takes pride in their beginner friendly instructions to attract non-technical website owners who want their website to gain more visitors.
Pricing: Free, $49.40 – $299.50 (Pro Versions)
Installations: 2+ million active installations
Although not mentioned on the AIOSEO website, the plugin also has a free version with limited functionalities. You can install it on the Plugins section on your WordPress site’s admin dashboard.

Rank Math is the newest SEO plugin with its first version released in November 2018. The plugin offers options at the installation wizard whether you want pre-configured settings for absolute beginners or custom settings where well-experienced users can customize the settings themselves.
One downside of this plugin is the minimum required PHP version needed is 7.0 or higher. Many existing websites still use versions as early as 5.4, in that case they may have to consider other alternatives.
Pricing: Free, $59 – $199 (Pro Versions)
Installations: 600,000+ active installations

SEOPress has the lowest price among the paid versions of the plugins we mentioned in this blog. Additionally, it offers unlimited sites on its FREE version. It also does not slow down your website unlike Yoast SEO. It is also modern and lightweight. Though it is a newcomer, it has already been recognized as one of the best alternatives for WordPress SEO.
Pricing: Free, $39 (Pro Version)
Installations: 100,000+ active installations

The SEO Framework was built by a WPMU DEV community member, Sybre Waaijer, in 2015 as a plugin for a project he’s working at the time. The plugin received great feedback from the community so Waaijer decided to release it officially on the WordPress Plugin Repository.
To this day, the plugin remained free with optional premium extensions.
Pricing: Free
Installations: 100,000+ active installations
It is important to note that these WordPress SEO plugins are different in their own way. The best will always depend on your situation and which plugin supports the feature/s your website relies on.
